Lecture-Recital, Canadian Clarinet Music: Actions in Multiculturalism
I will be delivering a lecture-recital on my DMA research topic Monday April 4th, 2015 at noon in Roy Barnett Hall in the UBC School of Music. This lecture will explore how art, specifically clarinet music, is an effective action in Canadian multiculturalism. I will also look at ways in which clarinet music is critical of multiculturalism. Baha Poureslami and Elizabeth Mee will join me to perform works by Milton Barnes, Robert Rosen, Elliot Weisgarber, and Derek Charke.
Trio Dolce Live Stream from UVIC
Our concert at UVIC on January 17th will be live streamed on the internet.
The concert will begin at 2:30pm PST.

Cowal-Earle Duo in Point Roberts
Rory Cowal and I will be performing a concert of all Canadian works titled “Vignettes of Canada”, April 25th at 3pm at Trinity Community Lutheran Church in Point Roberts, USA.
Cascadia Reed Quintet at Kwantlen and UBC
The Cascadia Reed Quintet will be performing January 14th at 12pm at Kwantlen University in Langley BC.
Also, February 6th at 12pm we will be performing at the University of British Columbia, School of Music, Noon Hour Concert.
Both programmes will include works by Debussy, Rameau, Pärt, and more.
Trio Dolce At UVic and Silk Purse
Laine Longton, Clare Yuan, and I will be performing as Trio Dolce for the UVic Emerging Artists Alumni Series. We are all graduates of the music program at UVic and are trilled to return to UVic to perform. Our programme is titled Romantic Intuition featuring clarinet, cello, and piano trios by Brahms, Beethoven, and Rota. The concert will take place in the P.T Young Recital Hall at UVic January 17th at 2:30pm. Admission by donation.
We will also be performing the same programme January 22nd at the Silk Purse Arts Centre in West Vancouver. For more detail see the Silk Purse Arts Centre website.
DMA Recital #3 – Music for clarinet from Central Canada
Rory Cowell and I will be performing December 10th, 8pm at Roy Barnett Hall, UBC. This programme will feature works for clarinet by composers from central Canada including Hétu, Gougeon, Fitzell, Morawetz, Daniel, and Mather.

Trio Dolce at Kwantlen
The Trio Dolce featuring myself, Clare Yuan, and Laine Longton, will be playing at Kwantlen Music@Midday concert series on September 24th at noon.
We will be playing the Brahms and Rota Trios for clarinet, cello, and piano.

Romantics and Meditations
I will be performing with Laine Longton (cello) and Clare Yuan (piano) May 25th, 8pm at Tapestry at Westbrook Mall (3338 Wesbrook Mall, Vancouver), and May 31st 730pm in Point Roberts, USA at the Trinity Community Lutheran Church. Our programme is titled Romantics and Meditations and will feature the Brahms Trio, and Rota Trio for clarinet, cello, and piano.

Contemplating Canadian Music
I will be doing a lecture recital at Douglas College Thursday, March 20th 2014. This lecture titled, Contemplating Canadian Music, will survey works from each region of Canada highlighting commonalities in sound and context. Additionally, the I will explore Canadian identity through the lens of the clarinet.

Feb 11th Recital
My second DMA recital will be Feb. 11 at 8pm at the Roy Barnett Hall at the University of British Columbia. I will be joined by Sisi Liu on piano, Brian Nessleroad playing percussion, and soprano Bahareh Poureslami.
This will be an all Canadian programme featuring works by: Christopher Butterfield, Elliot Weisgarber, Jordan Nobles, Wallace Berry, Michael Parker, Clark Winslow Ross, Derek Charke, Steven Naylor, and Sandy Moore. The first half will be works by British Columbia composers. The second half of the recital will be works by composer from the Atlantic region.
Free Admission.
